Cruise for Kids 2008 update

I am happy to give you some exciting news about the 2008 Cruise For Kids motorcycle ride, which will be held Saturday, March 15. This year’s Tony Cenzi custom-built 2008 Bobber motorcycle will be delivered any day!

In 2008, Cruise for Kids is adding a second grand prize – a four-day Caribbean cruise for two – to encourage greater raffle ticket sales. This is in response to feedback from some folks who said they did not buy CFK raffle tickets in 2007 because they were not motorcycle riders, or wouldn’t know what to do with the Bobber if they won it.

We went with a Caribbean cruise as a grand prize, thinking a lot of people would enjoy it. Our very gracious sponsor and CFK partner Quaker Steak and Lube restaurant donated the cruise package.

CFK raffle tickets are coming in this week and will be distributed by credit unions and businesses participating in the event. Soon, we will begin visiting Tampa Bay-area bike nights with the Bobber, and selling CFK tickets.

So please mark your calendars for March 15. We know from past events that motorcycle riders are some of the most big-hearted, generous people in Tampa Bay – and beyond.

Whether you are returning or participating for the first time, you’re guaranteed to enjoy the ride (and the rockin’ party to follow). And, you’re having fun while you raise money to help local kids in need.

I hope to see many of you in the weeks to come.

Who are we?

I represent GTE Federal Credit Union as a Tampa Chapter of Credit Unions board member. I started this blog to help raise awareness of our upcoming events. Our credit unions have not entered the "social web" yet, so this will be somewhat of a proof of concept for all of us. A little background on who we are...
The Tampa Chapter of Credit Unions consists of member credit unions in the Tampa Bay area. The Chapter Board is made up of representatives from several of these. Our mission is to help promote credit union awareness, collaborate with each other and promote the cooperative spirit. We organize and host educational events throughout the year for credit union staff as well as community events that contribute to local charities.
Our flagship event is the Cruise for Kids which in 2007 generated $50,000 in proceeds that went to 10 local childrens' charities. We also work closely with local schools to encourage and deliver financial planning curriculum.
